Prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis in Al-Najaf governorate, Iraq

Background: pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is one of the most global dangerous infectious diseases worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) agent that caused PTB transferred by air droplets from person to other. In present epidemiological study, we aimed record total numbers and percentages patients infected with Mtb during 12 months AL-Najaf Governorate, Iraq. Methods: This study has been done 2019 January end December north south region Sputum PTB-patients stained Ziehl–Neelsen to Mtb diagnosis according World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation. Results: We recorded 174 Governorate 2019; 89 male 85 female; 101 73 sections respectively. The age group 16-24 was highest infected. Quarter two PTB-patients; 33 (60%) section 22 (40%) section. Conclusion: There low incidence but Youngers were susceptible infection. Infection higher than there no high differences between genders. Seasons have effect on number infections.
